Curriculum & Syllabi

The MEIC curriculum (.pdf) abides by the European standards being designed in accordance with the EMCI core curriculum and the DG SCIC recommendations. It was accredited by the Romanian Ministry of Education in 2007.

The curriculum includes general disciplines (Public Relations, Language and Cultural Studies, European Policies and Negotiations, Applied Computer Science) and specific disciplines (Interpreting Techniques, Theory of Interpreting, Consecutive/Simultaneous Interpreting), totalling an average 20h/week.

Individual/group work:
Individual and group study and practice are also required and are deemed essential for the successful completion of the course. They involve the creation of teams (working groups) of three students each, who practice together (4-8 hours of group practice every week). Participation in various conferences, seminars, meetings that involve interpretation, with students observing the proceedings and the work of professional interpreters from a silent booth, is also strongly recommended.

Students are in charge of the weekly group work schedule.
