Who We Are
In 2002, upon the initiative of Mrs Rodica Baconsky and with the considerable support from the Interpreting Services of the EU – SCIC and EP – the Masters in Conference Interpreting (MEIC) was created. Hosted by the Applied Modern Languages Department, MEIC ran for seven years in the one-year programme format, always complying with the high quality standards in both teaching and assessment.
Since October 2007, the MEIC became the only Romanian programme accepted into the EMCI consortium alongside the best interpreting schools throughout Europe. As of October 2008, the Masters in Conference Interpreting of Cluj converted to a Bologna-type programme, covering 2 years with 4 full semesters of highly specialised training.
Many of our graduates and staff are active interpreters with the EU institutions either as functionaries or freelancers. Alumni also have access to other career opportunities on the local and regional market
